"Frenkenstorm"

Ugh, I don't know about you but that subject is already getting old.

Anyway....here in Northern Jersey, it's supposed to get pretty bad. Last year during Irene we did lose power but only for about 14 hours...we really lucked out. I'm hoping we're just as lucky this time around and am relieved that nothing is supposed to happen until after my son's party.

In case I don't get a chance to log back on before Sandy makes her way over, I just wanted to wish everyone who will be in or around her path a safe weekend. Be sure to stock up on supplies...candles, batteries, water, etc.

Hopefully it won't be as bad as they're predicting.

Stay safe everyone!

Revamped My Blog (Again)

Good morning :)

I just wanted to give an update that (if you haven't already noticed) I fixed up my blog last night.

Just a few new additions are a bio, "contact me" link, and subscription/follow tabs.

I'm really happy with the way it came out and I hope that you enjoy it :)

Have a great Friday! :)

Argh Ye Ready For A Party???

Apparently every kid on the planet has become obsessed with Jake The Pirate .My son is no exception. All I hear from him is "Jake" "Jake" "Jake "Jake"...
When we started talking about his birthday, a pirate theme seemed to be the obvious choice, especially now that he's older. His birthday is on Oct. 16th but due to schedule conflicts, we decided to have the party this Saturday. Since Halloween is on a Wednesday this year we decided to dress him up for the party in his costume since it would be too late to take him out on the 31st.

I already bought out Party City of all their Jake supplies, and will probably go back for more.
This year it felt different planning everything because I know how excited he's going to be. The past couple of years he was still too little to understand what was going on so I'm really looking forward to watching his reactions to everything.

All I want is for him to have a ton of fun, after all, he deserves that and so much more.

As always, thank you for supporting my blog and me :)

Argh me matey!!!!
Yo ho let's go!!!!!!

Package Woes (A Rant)

I've been ordering items online for about 5 years now and have never ever had an issue until today...just a warning-this is a rant post...read at your own risk.

~A little history....~
Last month I was watching HSN and on a whim I went ahead and placed an order for an item that I had planned on reviewing. It wasn't until after I called that I found out it was actually on back order and would not be in until October 26trh. Ok, I was willing to overlook it and figured it would be like Christmas had come early.

I received an email that my package had been shipped via UPS Smart Post, where it goes from UPS to the post office. I started to wonder why I hadn't gotten it yet so I contacted HSN, who assured me that it would be delivered in a few days. After that passed I called the post office who said it would be here in a couple days. Today, after it was still a no show, I checked the status online only to see that is was apparently delivered on October 17th...but it wasn't.
The post office is now insisting that it was delivered which isn't possible considering I'm the one up front when the mail comes in.

The HSN reps were more than helpful and said they'd resend and start an investigation to figure out what happened.

I don't mean to sound dramatic but I am really shocked because this is the first time I've ever had a problem like this. At this point either give me the package or my money back. I know it's no one's fault but it still sucks. I've been waiting a month only for it to get lost and to be told by the postal service "I don't know what to tell you."

Well, there it is, my rant. I know I can go on and on and on about this, much like I'll be stressing myself like crazy until this entire thing is over, but I do have to get back to work now.

I thank you for sticking this out with me and hope you all have a stress-free day :)

This Week's Polish-10/19-10/26

This week I wanted to have a little fun for our big anniversary date night so I used a few different polishes.

From nails Inc., I used Elizabeth Street as a base, which is a nice pale pink. Following, I used Sally Hansen's Shimmering Lilac on my tips along with a coat of Wet n Wild's Sparked for a pretty glittery look.

On my my feet I did a similar look only on my big toe with the rest painted with Shimmering Lilac

.

All in all  think it came together quite nicely (and very girie!)

Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope you all have a great week!

Five Years....

This is my absolute favorite picture of us, taken on my 20th birthday. He couldn't afford a gift so instead took me to see all my favorite places. It was late, cold, and rainy...and the most magical night of my life.

♥♥♥♥♥

For a while I didn't think I was capable of being with someone for more than eleven months (my longest record)...until Jason.

It was my first shift as an overnight cashier at the local A&P when a guy with multi-colored hair walked onto my line. He was the exact type I'd always lusted over and the kind who would never give a girl like me a second glance. He kept me company up until it was time to go home and would continue to do so until a few weeks later when I quit.

Just mere days after our first meeting we knew, even though I was involved with someone else at the time, that we had each found what (or should I say who) was missing.

It seems as if our relationship has been tested ever since day one but that's what's made it even stronger. Not to mention, being faced with people who don't "get it". I must admit, though, I enjoy having something that no one else can see or understand...it makes it even more special and precious.

Yes, we fight at times and get on each others' nerves but at the end of the day I feel lucky enough to be able to call him my best friend and the love of my life.

It's unbelievable to me that we're together five years when it seems like only yesterday I got in his car for a trip to the diner followed by a six hour car ride...also known as our first date.

As stressful as life my seem, each and every day I think about my family and the multi-colored haired boy who took my heart, and I smile because I was blessed to have found something early in life in which many spend their entire lives searching for.

Happy anniversary love.

Bag of The Month: October

This month I am carrying the Dooney and Bourke Black and Tan fabric Betty bag.

I love how simple it looks on the outside, yet, inside there are two compartments and multiple pockets...not to mention that there's enough room for my Pursefection organizer. Of course, my favorite part is the hot pink interior lining, which, I believe, is what I fell for first.

I don't think this is available anymore as I got this on clearance about three years ago but if you're interested, you can check out www.dooney.com for more lovely bags.

Thank you for taking the time to check out my blog :)

How Quickly Time Flies...Especially on A Wonderful Day

Why is it that time seems to speed up during the most wonderful of moments?

That's exactly what I asked myself last night...where did the day go?

I'd been scheduled to have off for my son's birthday ever since the beginning of January...since then life has changed for my fiance and myself. At that time he was home more but since getting promoted to full-time, I don't get to spend as much time with either of my boys during the week. It's for that reason that made yesterday so special.

The night before I decorated and filled our living room with dozens and dozens of balloons to the point where they spilled over to the steps. When my son first saw them his entire face completely lit up as he ran around screaming "Bawoons! Bawoons!" The two of us spent the entire day playing around, in fact, he didn't even allow me to sit on the couch! The only break we took from this (aside from his nap) was when he helped me bake his birthday cookies.

Later that night after his bath we read together, well, he tried, and every time he'd catch me looking at him he'd get this big smile on his face. That smile reappeared each and every time I'd walk past his room until he finally fell asleep.

I went to bed feeling so blessed and fortunate to have been able to spend some much needed mother and son time together. I truly hope that as he gets older, we continue with these moments so that he can look back knowing how incredibly loved he is.

I hope all of you are having a great day :)

How Quickly Time Flies...

9:49am...

My little boy is now three years old, it's absolutely unbelievable how fast time can move. It seems like I blinked and he went from being my little 4 pound potato to an actual person.

Before Donnie, I hadn't planned on ever having children but he completely stole my heart.  I honestly have no idea how I was able to live without him all that time.
It's so hard to describe my love for him, except to say that sometimes my heart feels so full that it's about to burst. Even on the worst days, being with him is nothing short of wonderful.
He is my everything, my reason for being. I love my fiance' and family, however, I didn't know the meaning of the word until the first time I held my little man.

Happy birthday Donnie!

Did anyone catch the Philosophy shows???

As I posted on Friday, Philosophy had a TSV on QVC and several shows throughout t the day on Saturday. I did end up ordering a shower gel set, which, I had a feeling I would when I first saw it online.
According to my email it already shipped...can't wait to try them out!

I'll report back...

This Week's Nails:10/12-10/19

This week I went with Cadogan Square by Nails Inc., which is a really pretty camel color. I own a few other colors but this is what had originally caught my eye.

I'm still new to this brand so I can't say too much about it but so far I am really enjoying how glossy and gel-like the polishes look.

At some point in the coming weeks, I'm  planning on posting a review of a set that I ordered from QVC. In the meantime, if you want to check them out you can do so Here (note: as of right now, it's still on waitlist).

Thank you for reading this and have a great week ;)

Philosophy On QVC This Saturday!!!!

I just wanted to let all the Philosophy girls (and guys) out there know that there will be several shows on QVC tomorrow starting at midnight, which also means they're having a TSV (Today's Special Value). The only information I have on this is that it's going to be a Miracle Worker trio but what I do know is that they're also going to be unveiling their newest fragrance, Living Grace along with some new seasonal items.

I've been looking forward to this as I absolutely love watching the Philosophy shows...there's something so calming about it. Personally, I don't have much interest in their skin care as I've learned the hard way that it makes me break out, however, looking online, I'm thinking of picking up some of their new bath & body products.

Here's the schedule for tomorrow:                                                Program Hosts:
-12am-2am                                                                                 -Dara Lynn
-3am-4am                                                                                   -Heidi Guest
-2pm-4pm                                                                                  -Mari Lyn
-6pm-8pm
-10pm-12am

Have a great weekend and I hope you're able to tune in :)

What's In My Shower? Fall Edition

Over the past few years I have become a total shower gel & body lotion addict. I now have so many (collected over time) that I've started switching out between what stays in the bathroom and what gets stored away...it basically depends on the time of year and change in weather.
Now that it officially feels like fall, all the fruity scents (or flavors as some people call them) are now stored under my bed as I'm gravitating more towards warmer food-type fragrances.

To make this easier, I've decided to separate this post by brand.

~Bath and Body Works~
-Charmed Life=This was around for a little under a year before becoming discontinued. The scents that are listed on the label are guava, pear, and vanilla musk. In my opinion, it starts very sweet, followed by a warm musky scent. My favorite part is after it dries it smells like marshmallows :)

-Be Enchanted=Notes in this line include iced pomegranate, Asian pear, whipped vanilla, sandalwood, and creamy musk. I have loved this ever since it first came out...it's perfect for cool nights with it's mixture of sweetness and warmth. (I used this one last night!)

-Winter Candy Apple=This is part of the holiday line and even though it contains the word "winter", I only reach for it during the fall. After all, it contains fragrances of apples, candied orange, and cinnamon...when I smell this I immediately think of Halloween or Thanksgiving. (My son used this last night and loved it!)

~Philosophy~
-Homemade Pumpkin Pie
-Pink Frosted Cut-Out=This came in a trio that I received as a Christmas present last year so I'm not sure if it's available anymore.
-Goody Graham Cracker=This came in the same trio as PFC-O.
-Cinnamon Buns
-Partridge In A Pear Tree=This has a lightly sweetened pear scent.
-Strawberry Shortcake
-Sweet Creamy Frosting

Please Note:I didn't go into much detail with the Philosophy products because they smell exactly like what they're called. However, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me and I'll be happy to help.

If you're interested in any of these products you can find them at the following:

Blog Update: Posting Schedules

I'm really happy to bring in some new life to my poor, abandoned blog.

I love how easy going it feels now, as opposed to constantly having to publish something, anything, daily. That being said, while I have been writing posts on a daily basis, I've decided to only publish twice a week. As of right now it looks like there will be something new posted on Mondays and Thursdays.

Currently, I do have several posts that are "waiting in the wings", along with a long list of posts that are yet to be created.

I spent the past weekend going back and forth about whether I should mention this but I felt like if you're nice enough to subscribe/read my blog, than the least I can do is to keep you informed of what's going on as opposed to be left hanging...yet again.

Thank you for reading this and I hope you have a great night :)

This Week's Nail Polish-10/7-10/12

(sorry about the washed-out picture...no matter what kind of lighting, I could not get a decent shot)

Continuing My Nails Inc. experiment, I decided to go with their nude pink polish, Elizabeth Street. I feel like this gives my nails a very clean and professional look, not to mention there's such a shine that it almost looks like a gel.

Btw, this shade was apparently named the #1 bridal polish by one of the magazines (can't remember which one though).

Keep an eye out for an upcoming review of my Nails Inc. set in the upcoming weeks.

Again, thank you for your support and have a great Monday :)

Sniffle Sniffle...Sneeze Sneeze...

Last night when my almost 3 year old son came home he plopped down on the couch and stared into space. When asked if he felt ok his response in a frog-like voice was "siiiiick".

I felt so bad for the poor kid but the same time a part of me winced because I knew what was next...or should I say who would be next. This was confirmed this morning as I have been sneezing and blowing my nose nonstop. At first I thought maybe, just maybe it might be allergies but alas, it seems he gave me his cold for the second time in a month.
Since he has a whopper of a cough, I'll be leaving early tomorrow to take him to the doctor, which at first I felt bad after seeing "the look" on some of my coworkers faces, but now I realize it's a good thing because I'm not good when sick.

It's funny because I can handle any major illness except a cold-I become a cross between a whiny two year old and a person on their deathbed.

I know what will happen tomorrow and I absolutely dread it...no amount of makeup can cover pale, sickly skin or glassy eyes...it can't give me energy, or take away the feeling that I'm dying. See? Not even a full day and I'm already whining.

Anyway, this thought came to mind-Why is it that children have problems sharing everything but their germs???

Well, I hope that all of you stay a lot healthier than I am right now...off to the drugstore I go. If not vitamin c than perhaps some more Philosophy will do ;)

Friday Night Beauty

Many many months ago I started to do my nails on Friday nights..I'd wait until everyone was asleep, head downstairs with my nail bag, and give myself a mani/pedi while watching QVC.

From there, that little bit of "me time" has become an entire spa night that I call "Friday Night Beauty"...the name actually comes from the show I watch.

As soon as my son falls asleep, I start by taking off old polish, filing nails, giving my tired soles a good pumicing, and tweezing my eyebrows. Following, I give myself a Queen Helene Mint Julep Face Mask and then scrub my feet using Philosophy's Seniorita Margarita Foot Scrub. In the shower I like using the matching Seniorita Margarita 3in1 Shower Gel. As soon as I towel off I use the Fresh Sugar Lip Scrub to exfoliate my lips.

Once my comfy pjs are on I head downstairs, turn on QVC, and paint my nails while watching people talk about beauty products.

To many my age this might seem really boring...why would a 24 year old stay home on a Friday night? The thing is, after a stressful week this is exactly what I need to lift up my spirits.

I urge you to hold your own Friday Night Beauty some time and let me know how it makes you feel :)

As always, thank you for reading this and supporting my journey of self discovery.

This Week's Nail Polish-9/28-10/5

With the weather becoming cooler, I decided to put away my bright, funky colors, and go with a neutral tone. This week I figured would be a good time to try out one of my newest polishes from Nails Inc, Porchester Square, which is a pale cement gray color.

I also used Sally Hansen'sTriple Strong base coat and a clear Wet n Wild fast day polish to seal everything.

I'm interested to see how well this polish holds up through the week and am planning on having a review of my 4-Piece set after some more use.

As always, thank you for reading this and supporting me on my journey.
